The Quiet Retreat
Purchased as a second home in Old Town while their son attends CSU, this retreat was designed as a calm, comfortable landing place for a couple snowbirding from Texas.
The Beginning
This project began with a blank slate—an empty home, newly purchased, and ready to be shaped with intention. This first image captures the starting point, before warmth, character, and layered decisions transformed the space.
Bringing Order to the Chaos
With dozens of paint samples taped to the walls and no clear direction, the homeowner felt stuck and overwhelmed trying to make the right decisions. We stepped in to simplify the process, narrowing options and establishing a cohesive color direction that supported the home’s architecture and the calm, retreat-like feeling they wanted.
Living Room Design Board
Guided by the homeowner’s desire for a casual, earthy feel, the design board was developed to reflect her personal style while bringing clarity and cohesion to the space. Soft pattern, natural textures, and grounded tones were layered to create warmth without feeling heavy or overdesigned. Each piece was chosen to feel comfortable and familiar, while still working together as a thoughtful, unified whole.

With the design direction established and the homeowner’s preferences guiding every decision, the space began to feel natural and unforced. Layered textures, familiar materials, and comfortable pieces came together in a way that feels collected rather than curated. The result is a home that reflects how they live here—easy, welcoming, and grounded—ready to be enjoyed, not tiptoed around.
